FACS Coniston – Ground Floor

A state-of-the-art One Place Service Centre in Coniston was officially opened today by Brad Hazzard, Minister for Family and Community Services (FACS) and Social Housing and FACS Secretary, Michael Coutts-Trotter.

The first of its kind in NSW, One Place puts the most vulnerable members of the community at the centre of the design by bringing together FACS’ three service streams – Housing Services, Community Services and Ageing, Disability & Home Care – in one integrated place.

“The One Place Service Centre represents our commitment to challenge the way we currently deliver services,” Mr Hazzard said.

“Breaking down barriers and working collaboratively are essential when it comes to delivering better services and I am pleased to see this innovative centre embracing a new holistic approach.”

“This new centre is a practical example of how we are determined to achieve a joint- approach in the way we work, no longer working in isolation.”

It is expected that approximately 1600 clients will walk through the front door of One Place
Coniston each month, making the Centre a hub for human services in the Illawarra region.

To meet the needs of the community, a $1.4 million physical refurbishment was needed as well as a significant IT systems upgrade.

One Place Coniston will also be the first front-line service centre to trial a new concierge system, self-service kiosks and phones that will allow clients to independently navigate through the human services system.

Ruth Newman Architect is proud to have been involved in the development of this new concept for the Department.
